Dior Corail Bagatelle {Review +Swatches}{MBP #2}

This blush, hands down, is the one of the most expensive pieces in my collection
I MEAN, WHAT KIND OF STUDENT EVEN PAYS $43USD/$44CDN FOR A BLUSH??!?!?!
(to be fair, it is limited edition)

I immediately had the serious hots for Dior Trianon Edition Blush in 'Corail Bagatelle' after accidentally browsing the spring makeup collections, which, to be honest, is something I've never kept up to date with.
(Also, 'bagatelle' sounds like 'baguette'...mmm, baguette).

I MEAN, LOOK AT THAT EMBOSSING AND TELL ME IT DOESN'T SELL ITSELF!!!
BOWS + RIBBONS + PEARL NECKLACE. SERIOUSLY???

Spot on Miranda, spot on.
____________________________________________________________

If you recall from a few posts back, I mentioned that I was going to buy a blush from a different highend brand each month, so this Dior blush is February's blush purchase. (Abbreviated 'Monthly Blush Purchase' = MBP)

...I'm not going to lie...this is my first 'luxury' brand makeup purchase...and I basically bought it because it was pretty ;-; (#wherearemypriorities #whatismoney)

I really didn't have any high expectations for this blush (despite the high price tag), but I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole packaging/experience so darn luxurious. Velvet pouch??? Blush beautifully scented (AND I REALLY DO MEAN BEAUTIFULLY SCENTED)??? Ridiculously soft brush included??? ENORMOUS MIRROR THAT IS ACTUALLY USEFUL/I CAN SEE MOST OF MY FACE IN??? THIS IS A WHOLE NEXT LEAGUE HERE, PEOPLE!!!

ANYWAYS, 'Corail Bagatelle' is described as a "pink-coral with warm undertones" and is a limited edition blush for spring (aka, if you want it, get on it fast!). The whole thing contains 0.26oz of product, and although the texture is not as soft as I would've expected, it is still pretty soft.

The shade has minimal shimmer, blends beautifully, and one swipe per cheek is enough to get me through 8+ hours of wear. However, you definitely have to build it up if you want the colour to resemble the colour in the pan, but one swipe is enough to give a beautiful pink/coral flush to the face.

Overall, this has been a massive hit to my wallet, but the shade is quite unique to my collection and is most definitely a new favourite! (...because the shade makes me feel like a french aristocrat bye)

What's the most expensive makeup piece in your collection?
Ever buy a piece that was too beautiful to pass up? ʘ‿ʘ

  1. Omagad. This blush... I'm not even crazy about blushes, but this gets me GOING. (I just use whatever, and mostly use the Benefit posietint. I lost it recently though. Sigh.) You've been getting me into blushes lately AHAHAHA, I've been looking at Dior and Chanel the past few weeks. T-T Why oh whyyy~~~~

This colour is so, so pretty! I shall search for this one, or a similar one. ;o; I needs to get my hands on a high end blush like this one. T___T The ribbons and the pouch and omg. I can't. MY BRAIN.

I've never tried Posietint before! Definitely want to eventually add that to my collection :)

    1. Thanks! I do wish the one shade you have is available where I live though! :(
      (Pink Reverie, I think?)
But agreed, this has to be my most beautiful blusher!

  3. Dior cosmetics are almost worth denting my wallet for. I'm such a sucker for their lipsticks, but I've never tried the blushes. It looks so pretty on you! If a lump of cash happens to fall into my hands, I know what I'll be spending it on now!

I haven't tried their lipsticks yet, but there's so many fancy makeup out there I need to get my hands on!

  4. BAGUETTES. SO HUNGRY RIGHT NOW.

I feel like I should stop reading your monthly blush purchases because now you're really selling this to me and I am so broke right now???????????????? But I'm definitely going to get a Bobbi Brown blush in several weeks, I promise you that.

  6. That blush looks sooooooo good!!! If I had it, I would be too scared to use too much so the embossing will stay there forever

  7. What a beautiful blush!! I wish the colour was a little bit more unique, and I'd be happy to splurge on it, but I get you sister - that is an investment :) It's good to also see that there isn't a significant price difference between the US/CAD prices! I'm always more inclined to buy them if there isn't a $5-10 markup hehe ;)

    1. Hah, I think the colour is more unique for me...I surprisingly don't have quite a match for it!
Yeah, I'm surprised at the similarity of the US/CAD pricing too! (Which I'm thankful for, because I'm always jealous that the States have like a $5-10 price difference from CAD and I'm like WHY)

  8. Totally agree. The embossing is so girly, kenot resist! What's funny is I'm sure it takes super minimal effort on Dior's part to do the embossing, yet it's such a great way to increase sales/attention. The color looks lovely on your skin! My most expensive makeup was my Suqqu lipstick: roughly 4500 yen ($44 dollars). I think at the time I had tourist-disorientation where foreign currency doesn't count as real money and thats why I was perfectly fine with paying that much for a lipstick haha!

    1. UGH, RIGHT? Choosing the right embossing is definitely a great way to sell a product effortlessly!
That is one hella pricey lipstick!! For that price, it better be HG status ;)
(But yeah, I do have a tendency to buy things that are exclusive to a region for an outrageous price...I consider it to be a 'once-in-a-lifetime' chance, heh)

  9. Looks gorgeous on you. That's money well spent, even on a student budget. And consider the way it brightens your face and gives a little bit of extra glow to your eyes, and hides the fact that you're exhausted from lack of sleep (because us students don't get that much sleep) and it's an investment!
TBH, I had to be quick about selling out the stuff from my job as I couldn't risk falling for the temptation of buying it. And sometimes I regret having done so, but then I like to think of the review over on mostly sunny, and figure that it's a close match to my beloved Madame Rougit - which I justified buying by telling myself I wouldn't need another blush for the next two years.

  10. SERIOUSLY beautiful. It's almost cruel how lovely the embossing is, I mean yes, look at that bow, the packaging THAT SHADE OF PINK. Designer make up is always expensive but you get what you pay for and it looks amazing on you!!! I'm rather frugal when I can be and will only splurge on designer makeup at airports HELLO TAX FREE. To date my favourites {and indeed most pricey} is my Chanel foundation and matte-fying powder. Still. Worth. Always!

Love your post, funny yet relatable and most importantly informatical!!

  11. The blush looks so pretty! I'm a big sucker for glamorous packaging as well ): but the pink colors blends sooo well and looks great on you! My most expensive makeup pieces are probably my lancome palettes that I own, which were kindly given to me by my sister! But I've spent quite a bit on high end foundations! 13. The packaging for high end cosmetics just really can't be beat and that's where alot of the $ goes along with marketing and advertising. That said, the packaging for this blush is positively swoonworthy and the color you chose is super flattering and pretty on you! Thanks for making me want bread now growl ^o^

  21. hahaha oh vanessa. i don't blame you for not resisting. i think in general i look forward to dior's seasonal offerings the most. sometimes their shadow palettes are a bit hit/ miss but there's always something that i want. thankfully this color is well duped by the new clinique blushes (sorry..probably shouldn't have said that) so i'll be picking one of those up instead. but HELLO AND WELCOME TO DIOR!! beware the addict glosses. those were my downfall...

  24. The embossing sold me, and I mean SOLD. But >$40 for something that I couldn't even bear to use (for fear of messing up the perfect design)? That blush better attract me a millionaire bf for that price. But still, a girl can dream...

  29. OMG! I'm blushed! The embossing is just too pretty! I wouldn't want to buy anything with pretty embossing coz I know I wouldn't bear to use them! That's really quite an expensive blush but I'm glad it worked well for you. I think it is ok to splurge once in a while. I wanna splurge on a powder foundation from one of those counter brands but I haven't found one that's soft enough.

Glad to see you on my blog again and on IG! Yeah!

  30. Oh wow, the ribbon embossing is so gorgeous, I've always wanted to try Dior makeup because they're packaged so nicely! And you said $43 is expensive but if you buy it from Australia it costs $72 T^T Almost double :(( The colour is really nice too~
