New In: A Credit Card Binging Haul

Towards the end of every semester when assignments/essays/exams dates start to roll in, I begin to experience this bi-yearly phenomenon called 'retail therapy'. As a student of anthropology, these patterns of behaviour fascinate me, while the bblogger inside me goes, "FUQ IT, LET'S BUY ALLLL THE THINGS TO MAKE UP FOR MY ACADEMIC INADEQUACY ".

(I'll admit, I'm usually not a fan of doing 'haul posts', because...uhm, nobody needs to know about my conspicuous consumption? But this post has been this month's collective beauty + decor purchases, and I just HAD to show the world the glorious Benefit perfume I picked up recently!! [And Rachel/Heart Ocean Secrets nagged me to post])
____________________________________________________________________

Dry Shampoo - I was running out of my Baptiste Bastille Batiste dry shampoo, and since Jaye and Daph were pushing me to try out Tresemme's and Dove's, I obliged. And I had coupons.

Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes (x2) - This stuff is all I ever use...BECAUSE THEY KEEP SENDING ME COUPONS.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Gel Liner - I picked this up on a whim because it was only $5 (on sale!) and since I prefer gel liners over pencils, it seemed like a good idea since I was pleased with my pencil Scandaleyes.

Essence 'Love Letters' Highlighter - I go berserk whenever Essence releases new collections, and even though I already have like, 6 of their limited edition highlighters...Y O L O.

Benefit 'Garden of Good and Eva' perfume - Benefit's perfumes were on sale at Shoppers, and JEEBUS, WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THEIR PERFUMES??!!?! Scent lasts pretty long, and packaging is--dare I say, better than their makeup packaging? I snatched up Eva, described as a "crisp & fresh citrus floral" (but it just smells really fresh/floral/lily-of-the-valley to me, so idek) AND I AM SO IN LOVE AND WILL BE WEARING IT DAILY IN SPRING/SUMMER.

Illamasqua 'Sophie' - I went to Yorkdale with one of the BFFs, and lo' and behold, AN ILLAMASQUA STAND INSIDE THE BAY? I don't know why, but the Bay sells Illamasqua blushers for $5 cheaper than Sephora (I hope they don't notice!). I originally went there for 'Hussy', but when I swatched 'Sophie', I knew I immediately needed this pink coral with golden shimmer (O LOOK GUYS, ANOTHER PINK CORAL).

Also, if you don't have an Illamasqua blusher, well, you're really missing out because this powder is softer than a baby's cheek. (I say that with authority because I touched a baby recently)(That sounds creepy)

Clinique 'Peach Pop' - Not much to say about this, since I've previously featured it in an earlier post, but how does one resist that daisy design???

NARS 'Final Cut' - the 50th blush in my collection, and my first NARS blush! I knew I needed to grab this limited edition blush, and it's somewhat fitting, because it'll be the ~final~ blush I'll be picking up (hopefully) for a long while.

Topshop 'Flushed' - I'll admit, I'm starting to understand the hype with Topshop makeup. Plus, that polka dot pattern is too cute and reminds me of Easter eggs. (Previously mentioned here)

Brushes - Funny story, Steph from The Fantasia announced her blog sale last week, and let me say that I was frantically scrolling through the sale on my phone like a madman a few minutes before my class started because WHAT A SALE. (To me, it was like the Hunger Games in my mind/having my my penny-pinching side + big spenda side duking it out to see who ultimately had control over my bank account). I snagged the Real Techniques 'Multitask' and 'Expert Face' brushes, and the Sigma F80 brush (I've lusted for the F80 FOR YEARS, GUYS).

Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque - another unexpected purchase at Yorkdale Mall, because I went into Holt's and was like, "Oh look, they have Aesop here! What's that mask everyone talks about again?" So I went to the Apple store and looked up reviews before ultimately taking it home. (Fun fact, I found Daph's review on the first page when looking up reviews!)

(P.S. there's something pretentious about the word ~'masque'~ and you can't deny it)

NARS Radiant Creamy concealer - Somewhat of an impulse purchase, but then again, my current concealers aren't exactly doing their jobs. Expectations are high for this one!

Room decor - I love going to Target for seasonal bits because aren't those scalloped pails above gorgeous??? Only $1, and though I won't be using them to hold my brushes, they'll be making cameo background appearances in my other posts! I also picked up a plastic blue salad plate (shown in the blushes photo) because I have a Target plate obsession, and they make for beautiful decor.

So, what have you guys picked up as of late? ʘ‿ʘ

  1. Mmk bye your pictures get better by the photo T-T Your skillz doooooee.

I never even knew Benefit made perfumes! That's awesome - and the packaging is just OMG. I've always been obsessed with MBMJ perfumes but I think I'll pick up a Benefit sometime soon. Love that haul to pieces, and the Aesop cleansing masque looks so fancy. o__o I thought it was high quality art paint when I first saw the picture, lol~

And wow seriously you truly are addicted to blush, hahahaha~ xD
(And wow we really do have synchronized posting of the posts LOL.)

DO IT. THEY'RE CURRENTLY ON SALE AT SOME SHOPPERS! :D ($20!!) BUT YEAH, THE PACKAGING IS AMAZING AND I WANT THEM ALL BECAUSE OF THE PACKAGING!
LOLLL it would definitely be a really expensive paint...$45 paint...to be exact ._.
      (GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE)

  2. You are quite the blush addict :P Essence limited editions are all quite exciting but I never manage to get my hands on them which is very disappointing. Them scalloped pails are adorable! They seem to be the perfect height for brushes but you can also be green and house a homey plant in there too hah Your photography is always perfect- so jellssssssss!

Ahhh nooo! Some of their limited edition stuff can be a hit or miss, but I usually buy them because they're so inexpensive and so gorgeous!
I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING!! How cute would a couple of daisies look in these pails!
(Aslkdd, thanks! BUT YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS ARE EQUALLY NICE TOO)

  3. Oh my gosh! Those blushes are beautiful. You seriously have gotten me obsessed with blush =A=;; I'm so tempted to get a Clinique blush because seriously the flower design is beautiful and the colors are gorgeoussss... But I've already got quite a bit of blush haha.

Also, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Nars blush - Nars blush is my favorite blush right now and I love reading your reviews. :) Scratch that - I'd love to see a review on all of these products because your reviews are the bomb.

GOOD. I feel like I've converted a whole bunch of people into blush lovers, haha! :D
WELL, the Clinique blushes are permanent, so least you don't have to rush to get on those!

Ermagosh, I swatched my new NARS blush and wasn't expecting it to be so pigmented, since the testers at Sephora usually tend to be dried out! (Aslkdklgh, thanks though! :') MY REVIEWS ARENT EVEN THAT GREAT)

  4. YOLO with Essence collections - I feel dat. They are the bombdiggity though, I love the extra detail they put in. IT'S THE FINAL CUT-DOWN (of blushes), lol had to. I be jelly of your blush collection, me needs some Illamasqua and clinique blushes in ma life (not that I can afford them)! Excited to hear your thoughts on the Aesop "masque" haha, it's so hyped up and I plan to purchase once I finish up my Origins one.

    1. Opps forgot to mention ACADEMIC INADEQUACY IS ME. I go on retail therapy spreeeees on the holidays cos a) I have more time and b) makes me feel better about how shitty I did on my exams lol...but not lol. Also those pails are so adawbs and cheap! Wish Aussie Target had them!

      Delete
    2. YES! Their limited edition stuff always has the best embossed details! IT'S OK, I LAUGHED AT THE FINAL COUNTDOWN JOKE. If it came down to Illamasqua or Clinique, I'd pick Illamasqua in a heartbeat...sorry Clinique!

Yeah, I know that Aesop mask feel. Kinda. I mean I went into the store and recalled that mask and didn't even know it was ~that~ hyped up. I wasn't too big a fan of the Origins one though, so eh.

UGH, ACADEMIC INADEQUACY IS A LIFE RUINER. Check your Target!! These pails are for Easter, so maybe, just maybe, they have them at an Aussie Target!

    3. I shalt check my Target! It seems though that Americans and Canadians (not so sure about Canada, but DEFS America) get SO into holidays! Like y'all have whole aisles dedicated to like...valentine's day. Haha you guys go big! We just have like, easter eggs and hot cross buns.

  11. Awesome haul! How do you get all the Simple coupons? I tried these wipes recently, and they're awesome. As in total mascara removing awesome.

I'm also an Essence LE collector. Love that brand, although the Love Letters collection is a bit of a let dow. Everything is a bit too sheer.

  23. I love your haul. You know haul posts from certain beauty bloggers (maybe the more famous ones whom I don't even know but happen to see) and haul posts from blogger friends are totally different. I'm a curious cat aka nosey parker and love looking at all these stuff.

I often see dry shampoo mentioned in posts but I don't seem them at my local pharmacy. I think I really need to try one of these dry shampoo coz my scalp could get oily at times and there are just nights when I return home from work too tired to think of the hassle of washing my hair. I always do in the end and had to blow my hair really dry while falling asleep. The highlighter from Essence look so lovely. Those embossing... I would cry if I can't see the words anymore. But that's what cameras are for, to capture the product and then use them freely.

My gal pal works in Benefit and I don;t even know Benefit makes perfume till I saw your post. Yes, nobody talks about Benefit perfume. WHY??? The scent you picked sounds like the type I would like -- fresh, crisp, floral. Lily of the Valley sounds familiar but I don't know how it smells like.

Funny story...I accidentally dropped that highlighter...it's a bit...broken right now...HAHA. (I've noticed that as of late, I'm constantly dropping makeup)

RIGHT??? I'm guessing that it's because no one talks about their perfumes that they're going on sale. Lucky for me though, because I'm definitely going to pick more up!
